Packet News:
The W2JT Node of the Tri-State PacketCluster Network has been permanently moved. The equipment now resides at the estate of John Burgio, W2JB in North Caldwell, NJ. With its new antenna system. the node should be easily accessible from most locations. If you are experiencing trouble connecting to the W2JT Node, try one of the other Nodes in the Tri-State PacketCluster Network. The other local nodes and their frequencies will be listed here as soon as the Sysop is up to speed in maintaining this Web Site.
Difficulty in connecting to one of the Nodes or difficulty in maintaining a connection is frequently attributable to the user's equipment. If you are using an older radio or a hand-held transceiver, your signal is not strong enough to maintain a link with the Node. Also, because 2-meter propagation is predominantly ground wave, obstacles like mountains or tall buildings can cause reflections and bending of the signal path. This results in unnecessary re-transmission of packets between the user and the Node. If you use a modern transceiver with a decent out-door antenna and reasonable power, your link to a local Node should be strong and stable.
